For Women's History Month, Simply Solar is taking the time to amplify the voices of women in solar energy. To kick off the month, we chatted with one of our Project Coordinators, Ally Basham!
1. How long have you been with Simply Solar?
I have been here for almost 3 years now!
2. What do you enjoy most about working in renewable energy/solar?
The amazing people I get to work with every day.
3. As a woman in the workforce, what do you think makes Simply Solar stand out?
I feel that as a women in the solar energy industry, the company has giving me all the opportunities that my male counterparts are given. I don't think that can be said about all companies. I think that makes Simply Solar very special. I think because we have a mixture of genders, it really is what makes us so great at what we do. We're able to satisfy the clients' needs on a complex and emotional level.
4. What excites you about the solar industry?
The sky is really the limit as we have more support due to our recent election. I'm also excited about new developments in tech and the resiliency that solar can provide to homeowners.
5. What advice would you give other women leaders or other women looking to join the industry?
I never thought I'd find myself in construction and renewable energy. That being said, I have learned so much, and continue to push myself every day I am in my position. Women add a lot to this industry, and having a team that empowers that is crucial for individual and company success. It's hard work, but very rewarding. To prove people wrong, and disrupt the stigma feels so good!
